The 2024 Suzhou Global Investment Promotion Conference with the theme of “Invest in Suzhou for a Win-win Future” opened at the Suzhou International Expo Centre on Apr. 26, attracting a great many participants including representatives of 429 global Fortune 500 companies. And 367 projects with a total investment of 371.95 billion yuan were signed at the conference.
Xu Kunlin, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and governor of Jiangsu province, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Liu Xiaotao, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee, also made a speech. Lv Deming, secretary general of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, was present at the conference. Wu Qingwen, deputy secretary of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and mayor of Suzhou, made a keynote presentation to detail Suzhou’s investment opportunities, business environment and supporting policies among others. Li Yaping, director of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress, and Zhu Min, chairman of the CPPCC Suzhou Municipal Committee, attended the event.
During the conference, a total of 367 projects in such fields as new energy, high-end equipment, new-generation information technology, advanced materials, biopharmaceuticals and big health, were signed with a total investment of 371.95 billion yuan. Global senior executives of seven top multinational companies, including Alain Merieux, President of the Merieux Foundation, Thomas Schinecker, CEO of Roche Group, Wang Yongdong, Microsoft’s global senior vice president, and Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Schaeffler, gave remarks via video link. And senior executives of foreign companies like Temasek, Panasonic, and L’Oréal, as well as representatives of well-known Chinese enterprises such as Hengli Group and China National Machinery Industry Cooperation (Sinomach), delivered speeches on site.
In addition, the conference witnessed the launch of the Suzhou Global Investment Partnership Program and the first batch of 20 global investment partners of Suzhou received their plaques.
Diplomatic envoys from 11 countries, representatives of Global Fortune 500 companies, top 50 companies in related industries, global unicorn companies, business associations, financial and investment institutions, and accounting and law firms as well as officials of relevant government departments attended the conference.
